  • VP9

  • H264

As you can guess from its name, H264 is the codec that preceded H265 – but its widespread compatibility has resulted in it still being the most popular lossless compression. In terms of performance it can’t match H265 or VP9 and compresses HD video of 720p or 1080p and 4k video to about a third of their original size. It can use many different formats, including MP4, MKV, AVI, 3GP, FLV, MPG and so on.
